My First Olympic Tri

June 11th was my first Olympic Tri. It was held in Rancho Seco, outside of Sacramento.

With one sprint tri under my race belt, this was the next step toward the Half Ironman on July 30.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, though. The first order of buisness was to pick up the goodie bag! Posted by Picasa

The Swim

About this point, I was starting to wonder what I got myself into...

Still wondering...

Too late now.

The swim actually went very well. Besides being knocked in the head and pushed around a bit, the wet suit kept me afloat and moving along without too much trouble. Posted by Picasa

The Bike and Run

The bike was fast and furious...long, straight rolling hills.
Mostly, it was hard to pace myself and remind myself that I did not have to try and pass everyone on the course.

The run was a bit harder than I was expecting, I think that next time I'll use a different nutrition strategy pre race and on the bike...and try to control my urge to give it everything on the bike course. Posted by Picasa

The Finish

All in all, though, it was a good day.

Time: 2 Hours, 35 Minutes and 2 Seconds.
